Therapy for you.
You are the best author for your life! As a therapist, I work with you to design sessions that meet your current needs. Below you can find some of the types of therapy I am certified in.
CBT
I received my Advanced Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from NYU. This is a great therapy tool that works with unhelpful thoughts in order to restructure the pathways in your brain. I find that the clients who benefit from CBT usually enjoy hands-on experience and are willing to work in-between sessions to get the full effect.
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy differs from CBT in that its focus is primarily on making space for difficult thoughts and feelings. Instead of trying to control or change things, we mindfully notice and accept. The goal is psychological flexibility and living from your values instead of from a place of perfectionism. ACT skills frequently come up in session regardless as it is in line with many other therapies. It is a wonderful way to be present, compassionate, and curious with all experiences that arise.
Trauma Informed
I received a Certificate of Completion in Advanced Clinical Practice Through a Trauma-Focused Lens from Hunter, as well as an EMDR Basic Training Certification from EMDRIA. Most of my clinical work has been centered around complex and developmental trauma throughout the lifespan. Healing is not without hope here. I find that this is the space that I most often use creative therapies such as art, narrative work, and even movement as the body is an essential part of the healing process. However we choose to move forward in session, you can be at ease knowing we will take it at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you.
Spiritual Integration
I also received my Post Master’s Certificate in Spirituality and Social Work from NYU. Many of my clients come from a diverse range of cultures, religions, and spiritual backgrounds. A large portion are recovering from trauma related to their religion of origin or the community they grew up in. In these cases I support clients in working through these complex experiences in a curious and non-judgmental space.
Some of my clients wish to renegotiate their relationship to their faith or are looking for meaningful spiritual integration within sessions. I am an extremely open practitioner. This means that within session, we hold space for it all. Alternative methods of healing are often explored as well as spiritual experiences that may not make sense to someone else. What is most important is that you feel seen enough to process what is of value and meaning to you on your journey. If you are looked for allied healers in a specific faith or practice, I am happy to work alongside you as well to find outside referral sources that feel most appropriate to you as needed.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
“I will try again tomorrow.”
